The First Post

Ok.. so here goes...The first post!

I love that technology allows us to keep connected to one another- for a much longer period then we would naturally have.
Now that we have Facebook, we don't lose friends as we get older...we gain new ones...daily!

The person who served you at maccas this afternoon is now following you on twitter.

I'm hoping that by starting this blog i'll be able to stay in contact with my lovely work friends whom i'm leaving behind in three weeks time to embark on my own little adventure. Without this, we might have actually had to have put in some serious effort- like text messaging, or remembering to send a letter or postcard once in a while!

This serves another purpose as well. Of course i'll be trying to share my experiences in a public way every now and again, but it will also hold me accountable! So if i write anything notable in here- it means you, as the reader have a responsibility to ensure i do something with it! If it's an experience, i need to learn from it. If it's a challenge, hopefully growth will occur!

So, a bit about me...
I'm 23, work at Curtin University with the best bunch of colleagues i could ask for. I did just resign (for reasons that will be revealed later) so am spending my last three weeks getting on top of everything i'll be leaving behind.
The crew at work...there's a few of us!

Before this, i studied Film and TV- Producing. Also got to study with the best bunch of fellow students i could possibly ask for. It's awesome while you're studying it, but lets be honest...there isn't a lot of work in this industry so if you're planning a career in this field be prepared for a lot of late nights and minimal pay. But it's worth it in the end (so i hear- i haven't gotten there yet)

The Production cast and crew 'Trixie Club' 2008

I've been to the USA, Canada, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpar, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique and was born in South Africa and lived there for 3 years. Travel has never been an immediate goal of mine, but when an opportunity comes along i'll take it.
I'm an Aussie and have a particular love for Sydney, NSW, and especially the Blue Mountains.. I'm a city girl but love trips out into the Outback.
Jesus is my saviour and i am in awe everyday of the way God works, and that i get to have a personal relationship with Him. It's something i try not to take for granted.

This blog is called "The Follower" because in my life i want to be letting God take the lead. Too often i find myself trying to take charge- and thinking i know what's best- and those are the times i fall down...hard! But when He leads, and i follow, i know that's the best place for me to be.

So lets see where God leads me this year...

Thanks for reading!

Ps... Oh i almost forgot to mention...I'm a twin... people define me as "John's sister" (oh that's how i know you- i thought your last name was familiar...) so i better mention it here.
Let me squash a few misconceptions... first of all: no we are not identical, he is a boy i'm a girl... yes we are still twins even so..
Secondly: yes we do have telepathic powers and can communicate anywhere, anytime..
Last of all: We are completely different. Aside from the obvious gender differences, he likes engineering, and mechanical stuff and surfing/anything to do with water... I like non-engineering stuff, and staying on the shore watching the people surf...Those are pretty big differences! He's also taller...
